Paedophile Peer Locked Up After Four Decades of Abuse
A 64-year-old former East Bawtry Road resident, Ahmed, has been jailed after a jury found him guilty of multiple sex offences spanning over 40 years. The judge sentenced him following harrowing victim statements revealing the lifelong damage caused by his appalling crimes.
Decades-Old Crimes Finally Exposed
Ahmed was convicted on 15 January of two counts of attempted rape and one count of indecent assault. The offences date back to the late 1960s and 1970s. Police first received reports in 2016, when the victims—now adults—came forward to reveal abuse suffered as very young children, aged between four and 11.
Horrific Abuse at Home in Rotherham
Ahmed twice tried to rape one victim while she was just one year old at an address in Rotherham. The same location was where he indecently assaulted a second victim, a young boy.
Victims Speak Out: No Regret, Lasting Scars
One victim told court his abuser’s actions shattered his relationship with his own children. He slammed Ahmed for never showing remorse or regret.
The first victim called the conviction “a victory for all sexual abuse victims,” describing years of torment before finally feeling able to shed the burden.
Justice Served Thanks to Relentless Police Work
Both survivors lauded South Yorkshire Police’s DC Joanne Smithson, praising her determination. One said:
“I would like to offer my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to South Yorkshire Police for fulfilling their motto: ‘Justice with Courage’ through the actions of the investigating officer, DC Joanne Smithson. You never gave up on us and you continued to seek justice for us.”
