Double Murder Shocks Leeds Neighbourhood
Police have launched a double murder probe after two men died in a stabbing horror in Harehills, Leeds. The emergency call came in at 11:06 BST on Saturday near Hill Top Avenue.
Two Men Dead, Third Arrested at the Scene
Officers found one man gravely injured on Back Hill Top Avenue who was declared dead at the scene. A second man, seriously hurt nearby, was taken to hospital but died soon after.
A 46-year-old man, suffering from a severe hand injury, was arrested on suspicion of murder and is now receiving hospital treatment. Another 48-year-old male has also been arrested in connection with the killings.
Forensics and Investigation Underway
The West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are leading a full forensic search of the area.
Detective Chief Superintendent Sarah Jones said: “This tragic loss of two lives so suddenly and violently has shocked us all.” She confirmed the victims are a 53-year-old local man, whose family is receiving support, and a 65-year-old man, whose family is still being located.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The investigation is in its early stages. Police urge anyone with information to step forward. They are increasing patrols around Leeds District to reassure the community.
