Dover Man Jailed for Seven and a Half Years Over Child Sex Crime
Brave Victim Sparks Justice
A Dover man, Anthony Collins, 55, has been slammed with a hefty seven and a half year prison sentence for sexual activity with a child. The shocking crime came to light in March 2023 when the victim courageously reported the abuse first to a friend, then to Kent Police.
Police quickly moved, questioning Collins – who lived on Maison Dieu Road – before charging him. In May 2024, Collins admitted the charges at Canterbury Crown Court.
Harsh Sentence with Licence Extension
On 22 November 2024, Collins was locked up for seven and a half years. The judge also tacked on an extra four and a half years on licence after his release, ensuring close supervision to stop any chance of repeat offending.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
“The victim in this case showed great bravery in reporting the incident first to a friend and then to police,” said Detective Constable Maria Cutter, who led the investigation.
“I am pleased we were able to swiftly charge and secure a significant jail term for this dangerous offender.”
DC Cutter also urged other victims to come forward, reassuring: “We will work with you to take the action that’s right for you. Reporting abuse can protect others from harm.”
