Drill Rapper Guilty of East London Stabbing Murder

A drill rapper who boasted in his tracks about dodging the law—saying “no face, no case”—has been convicted of stabbing a man to death in East London. Lekan Akinsoji, 27, and his partner in crime Sundjata Keita, 27, were found guilty for the savage 2017 killing of 21-year-old Ahmed Deen-Jah.

Chilling CCTV Captures Fatal Attack

Just 10 days before the murder, Akinsoji dropped a video entitled Armed and Ready, rapping: “No face, no case, no evvy (evidence).” Yet CCTV footage told a different story. Dressed head to toe in black with balaclavas and gloves, Akinsoji and Keita chased Ahmed after he bought a lighter near Custom House station.

Ahmed ran into BJ Wines, desperate to escape. But the duo caught him and stabbed him in the heart during a brutal fight. Despite their attempts to hide, the cameras caught the grim moment. Known as “Grinna” on the streets, Ahmed died at the scene just 130 metres from his home.

Gang Warfare Fuels Deadly Attack

Prosecutor Anthony Orchard KC said, “This killing was not a spur-of-the-moment attack but a planned strike amid ongoing gang battles in East London.” Ahmed was part of the Custom House gang. Akinsoji admitted ties to rival Woodgrange gang. Keita denied any gang links.

The court heard they were on a ‘ride-out’—a targeted hunt for rivals—when the stabbing unfolded. Akinsoji is already serving 20 years for a 2018 conspiracy involving violence and firearms.

Verdict Brings Justice After Years of Heartbreak

Akinsoji, also known as “CB” or “Cracky Blacks,” denied all involvement but the evidence and CCTV proved otherwise. Keita refused to testify. Both were found guilty of murder by a 10-2 majority and face sentencing on October 24.

“Eight years on from Ahmed’s vicious murder, his family finally have the justice they deserve,” said Detective Superintendent Kelly Allen. “Akinsoji and Keita spent years thinking they’d got away with it, but thanks to persistent police work, they’ve been held to account.”

Ahmed’s father expressed relief, thanking police for their tireless efforts. Superintendent Allen added, “This case shows the Met Police’s commitment to justice and keeping violent criminals off our streets.”
