Batman drink-driver banned for a year after hit-and-run chase in Tidworth

Batman’s wild night ends in police chase

A 25-year-old man in a full Batman outfit has been disqualified from driving for 12 months after causing a drink-driving crash in Tidworth. Lewis Blondrage, from Aliwal Barracks, smashed his car into a telegraph pole on Meerut Road on 19 November 2024. Instead of staying put, Blondrage fled into the night, sparking a frantic chase involving locals and several police units.

Dog unit aids arrest after breath test fail

Police quickly sealed off the area, with a dog unit joining the hunt. Blondrage was caught and failed a roadside breath test. A subsequent blood test confirmed he was well over the legal alcohol limit. He was taken into custody pending court action.

Court hands down driving ban and fine

On 4 December, Blondrage appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court where he was found guilty of:

  • Drink driving
  • Failing to stop at the scene of a traffic collision

He was slapped with a 12-month driving ban and a £600 fine.

Police and public react

“This case highlights the dangers of drink driving and the lengths some individuals will go to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident,” said a local police spokesperson.

The bizarre sight of a Batman-clad driver behind the wheel drew shocked reactions online. Many praised quick-thinking locals and police for stopping Blondrage before anyone got hurt.

This outrageous episode is a stark warning about the dangerous consequences of drink-driving. The road is no place for superheroes if they don’t play by the rules.
