Dashcam Footage Urgently Needed in PCSO Julia James Murder Probe
Kent Police are desperate for dashcam footage from key Aylesham streets in the week before PCSO Julia James was murdered. Detectives want clips from anyone driving along Adisham Road, Dorman Avenue North, Cooting Road, and Spinney Lane between Tuesday 20 April and Tuesday 27 April 2021.
Tragic Death of Beloved PCSO Julia James
Julia James, 53, was found dead near Ackholt Wood in Snowdown just before 4pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021. She suffered fatal head injuries while walking her dog, Toby. Aylesham man Callum Wheeler, 21, has been charged with her murder and faces trial starting Monday 29 November 2021.
Police Still Hunting Crucial Leads After Thousands Help
Assistant Chief Constable Tom Richards said:
“While a man is charged, we must exhaust every lead. We urge anyone with footage or information from those streets at that time to come forward, no matter how small the detail.”
So far, detectives have sifted through around 1,500 tips and visited nearly 2,000 homes. Specialist teams have conducted thorough searches, including painstaking fingertip examinations of fields near the crime scene.
Community Support Praised Amid Intense Investigation
ACC Richards praised locals for their steadfast support:
“The kindness shown by residents—offering food, drink, and venues—has been a huge boost for our officers. Though the door-to-door visits and search teams will ease, we remain committed to this community and the case.”
Drop-in support centres staffed by partner agencies remain open for anyone affected. If you have dashcam footage or information that could help, call Kent Police on 0800 0514 526 or submit videos online via the Kent Police website.
