Drug Dealer Bites Cop, Kicks Officers in Brighton Station Brawl
A ruthless drug dealer who assaulted three police officers at Preston Park railway station in Brighton has been slammed with a hefty jail sentence. Kelvin Thompson, 27, was locked up for 57 months after viciously attacking officers—including biting one—while trying to dodge arrest.
Violent Struggle at Brighton Station
On 3 September 2024, undercover officers from the British Transport Police’s County Lines Taskforce spotted Thompson acting suspiciously. When cops approached, he dodged their questions and acted evasively. A search revealed three mobile phones and a hidden package under his clothes.
Despite being handcuffed, Thompson fought back fiercely. He kicked an officer in the groin, slammed another against a wall, and bit a third so hard they struggled to free themselves. Officers eventually subdued him and found the concealed stash.
Crack Cocaine and Heroin Worth £1,500 Found
Further checks uncovered two packages containing crack cocaine and heroin with a street value of around £1,500. Thompson admitted to possession with intent to supply, assault causing actual bodily harm, and resisting arrest.
Thompson, from Cambridge Road, Bournemouth, was sentenced on 30 January at Hove Crown Court. He now faces over four years behind bars for his violent lash-out and drug dealing.
Police Send Strong Message to Drug Dealers
“Thompson’s behaviour in this case was totally unacceptable. We won’t tolerate attacks on our officers or other emergency workers,” said investigating officer DC Chris May. “Our County Lines Taskforce is trained to spot criminals on the railways and bring them to justice. If you’re using the rail network to transport drugs, we will find you.”
