Drunk Met Cop Crashes Car and Gets Mouthy – Now Fired
Ex-Met Police Officer Found Guilty of Gross Misconduct
Former Met Police Constable Iain Simons has been officially sacked after a drunken car crash and an angry outburst at fellow officers. The hearing confirmed Simons, who once served with the North East BCU, breached professional standards, including honesty, respect, and integrity.
Crash and Verbal Abuse Caught on Record
The incident happened off duty on 13 October 2017. Simons lost control and crashed his car into another vehicle in a private car park. When police arrived, he reportedly lashed out verbally and showed blatant disrespect to the officers on the scene.
Resigned Before Being Fired
The disciplinary panel ruled that if Simons were still on the force, he would have been dismissed outright. However, he quit the Met on 29 November 2019. The final verdict came down on 17 March, officially marking the end of his police career.
