Woman Stabs Teen in the Back During Friendly Hug
A Nottingham woman has been sentenced after stabbing a teenage girl in the back — all while the victim thought she was sharing a harmless hug.
Kirsty Kemp, 36, turned up drunk at the teenager’s home in Clifton on the evening of 4 October 2025. She knew the girl and persuaded her to go for a walk “to clear her head.”
Betrayal Near Clifton Leisure Centre
Near Southchurch Drive by Clifton Leisure Centre, Kemp suddenly asked for a hug. When the teen wrapped her arms around her, she felt a sharp pain and realised she was bleeding from a stab wound in her back.
Kemp calmly slipped the knife into her dressing gown pocket and walked away without a word.
Passersby Save the Day
The injured teenager flagged down passersby outside a nearby takeaway, who quickly called the police. Officers arrived within minutes to find her slumped and bleeding heavily on the road.
She was rushed to hospital and treated with stitches for the stabbing.
Kemp Pleads Guilty, Gets Jail Time
After arrest, Kemp initially denied hurting the teen seriously. But she later pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in public.
On Thursday 12 March, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced her to three and a half years behind bars. A restraining order was also imposed, barring Kemp from contacting her victim.
