Knife-Wielding Robber Hits Newport Shop on Boxing Day
A man has admitted robbery after threatening shop workers with a knife in Newport on Boxing Day.
Boxing Day Blag at Central Stores
At around 6pm on 26 December 2019, 29-year-old Reece James Chilcott, also known as Reece Sullivan, barged into Central Stores on Hunnyhill, Newport. He brandished a knife tucked into his waistband and demanded cash from the tills.
£365 Stolen Before Quick Getaway
Chilcott made threats to the staff before fleeing with £365 in stolen cash. His danger didn’t stop with the robbery — he was caught with an offensive weapon in a public place.
Facing Justice at Isle of Wight Crown Court
Yesterday (Thursday 1 October), Chilcott, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of an offensive weapon at Isle of Wight Crown Court. He was remanded in custody and will return for sentencing on 2 November.
