Blast Rocks Hove Flats – Power Cut and One Injured

A loud explosion rattled a block of flats on The Drive, Hove, at around 7:44pm last night. Residents were left shaken as darkness fell thanks to a power cut that swept the area.

Basement Electrical Explosion Sparks Fire

The blast is believed to have originated in an electrical intake room in the basement of the flats. Emergency crews from East and West Sussex rushed to the scene immediately.

Fire Brigade Battle Blaze with Foam and Breathing Gear

A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire Services revealed: “We responded to reports of a domestic dwelling fire at The Drive, Hove at 19:44. Seven pumps, an Ariel Ladder Platform, and five officers tackled the blaze.

“Crews used two breathing apparatus sets, firefighting foam, and one hose reel jet to bring the fire under control. The cause was accidental. One casualty was treated and handed over to SECamb.”
