Ex-Labour Councillor Busted for Horrific Child Sex Crimes
Liron Velleman, a former Labour councillor for Barnet, has shocked the nation by pleading guilty to multiple child sex offences. The politician, elected in 2022 for Whetstone ward, faces serious charges after a chilling police sting.
Shocking Messages Expose Sick Behaviour
Velleman, 30, tried to lure a 13- to 15-year-old child into sexual conversations. During a Met Police operation, he was caught sending explicit photos of himself to a 13-year-old girl. He luridly asked if she was “at home alone,” demanded, “show me your bra,” and pried into her virginity status.
The offences all occurred between 3rd and 10th December 2024, exposing a dark and disturbing side to the former councillor.
Defence Claims Depression but Guilty Plea Stands
At Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, defence barrister Ali Hussain said Velleman suffers from depression and painted him as “a person of good character.” Hussain added, “He is currently unemployed. He is a family man. There is much about his background that explains how he ended up in this situation.”
Velleman quit the Labour Party in April 2025. He was previously active in the Jewish Labour Movement and worked for the Community Union.
Sentencing Delayed as Velleman Granted Bail
Velleman’s sentencing has been postponed until 10th February at the same court. He’s currently out on conditional bail with a strict ban on contact with anyone under 18.
