Burglary Beast Luke Bews Jailed for Three Shocking Break-Ins in Fareham
A 22-year-old thief has been locked up after a spree of three brazen burglaries in Fareham this March. Luke Jordan Bews, from Bishopsfield Road, admitted to breaking into homes on Hillson Drive and Fareham Park Road in the early hours of Monday, 25 March.
Car Crashes Into House as Bews Makes His Escape
At around 1:55am, a woman in her twenties was startled by a car outside her Hillson Drive home. Peering out, she spotted her car with its lights on — crashed into her front door. The man behind the wheel fled when she opened her door.
Bews had stolen electronic gadgets from inside the house, along with £30 in cash and a set of keys, all found later in the vehicle.
More Burglaries, Stolen Keys and a Missing Engagement Ring
- 2:45am: A break-in at a Fareham Park Road home where keys were stolen and vehicles searched.
- 4:50am: A loud crash on the same road revealed a stolen Ford Fiesta, keys, cash, and an engagement ring taken from a flat.
Keys stolen in the first two crimes were later found dumped on a nearby bridleway, linking the incidents together.
Bews Caught and Sent Down for Four and a Half Years
The Hillson Drive victim gave a clear description of Bews and the stolen Ford Fiesta was recovered by police. Bews was arrested and charged with all three burglaries.
On 10 May at Portsmouth Crown Court, he was sentenced to a whopping four and a half years behind bars for his crime spree.
“Residential burglary offences can have a dramatic impact on victims, especially if items of sentimental value are taken,” said investigating officer PC Charlotte Pocock.
“I’m glad this sentence reflects the seriousness of Bews’s offending. I’d like to thank his victims for their help building the case, alongside detailed CCTV inquiries.”
