The pair face charges of gross negligence manslaughter. They are also accused of concealing the birth of the child and perverting the course of justice.
Body Found in Hollingbury
The heartbreaking discovery was made on the afternoon of 1 March in Hollingbury, Brighton, when officers found the baby’s body during a search.
The infant is yet to be formally identified. A post-mortem is scheduled for Friday, 3 March, to determine the cause of death.
Court Appearance and Legal Warnings
Marten and Gordon are set to appear in custody at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 3 March.
The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the charges.
Authorities urge the public and media to avoid any reporting or online commentary that could prejudice the ongoing criminal proceedings, reminding all involved have the right to a fair trial.
