Prison Murder Shock at HMP Belmarsh
Detectives have named the prisoner killed in a shocking attack at HMP Belmarsh. Sundeep Ghuman, 36, was found with serious head injuries on Tuesday, 18 February.
Brutal Assault Inside High-Security Jail
Police were called to the prison at 8pm after reports of an assault. Emergency crews rushed Mr Ghuman to hospital in critical condition, but he died the following evening, Wednesday 19 February.
Two Inmates Arrested in Murder Probe
Two 28-year-old men, also inmates at Belmarsh, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at the scene. They are currently bailed while investigations continue.
Investigation Underway as Motive Remains Unclear
“We are working to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident with the support of the prison and local officers,” said Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard. “At this stage I am open minded concerning motive, but expect this to become clear as the investigation progresses.”
A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as head injuries. Authorities continue their inquiries into this disturbing prison killing.
