Retired Teacher Jailed for Sex Assaults on Children
Gabriel Uttley, 62, has been convicted of seven indecent assaults on children following a trial at Basildon Crown Court.
Attacks Spanned Six Years in Essex Towns
The retired teacher abused three boys and one girl in the Rawreth area over six years. The offences first came to light when police were contacted in January 2017.
Four-Year Sentence and Lifetime Restrictions
Uttley, from Lundy Close, was jailed for four years. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage
“I want to thank the victims in this case for their strength in coming forward and supporting our investigation throughout,” said DC Ian Burgess.
“It has been really difficult for them having to talk about what happened and give evidence in court. I hope this sentence reassures them that Uttley has finally been brought to justice.”
