Four face charges after brutal attack on woman in Hawkhurst — emergency workers also targeted

Violent Assault Sparks Hunt in Hawkhurst

Four suspects have been charged following a shocking attack on a 60-something woman driving along Water Lane in Hawkhurst last Sunday afternoon. The victim was seriously hurt after confronting a motorcyclist and driver who were illegally navigating the one-way street in the wrong direction at around 2:40pm on April 6.

The woman stopped her car to speak with the motorcyclist but was then violently assaulted. She was rushed to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Arrests Made — Emergency Workers Attacked

Police swooped the next day, April 7, and detained four people linked to the attack — all from All Saints Road, Hawkhurst. During the arrests, emergency service workers were reportedly assaulted, adding to the gravity of the incident.

  • Brett Turner, 50
  • Ellie Turner, 21
  • Rose Smith, 50

All four face charges of grievous bodily harm with intent. Additionally, Rose Smith is charged with three counts of assaulting emergency workers. Ellie Turner faces three counts of assaulting emergency workers plus three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

They were all remanded in custody and are set to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 9.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Kent Police continue to investigate and want anyone who witnessed the attack or has dashcam or CCTV footage from Water Lane to come forward immediately.

“If you were in the area around the time of the assault or have any footage, please get in touch,” a police spokesperson urged.
