Brutal Knife Attack Claims Young Dad’s Life Outside Home
Raheem Hanif, 26, was viciously stabbed to death outside his own house on the evening of 6 February 2021. Raheem and his father were parked up in their van when four youths armed with baseball bats and large knives launched a savage attack.
Two Jailed for Life Over Raheem’s Murder
Reading Crown Court has sentenced Abas Khan, 24, and Kamran Chowdhary, 18, to life behind bars for Raheem’s murder. Khan faces a minimum of 26 years, while Chowdhary will serve at least 14 years.
Two Others Locked Up for Manslaughter
Also convicted were Humzah Sikander, 18, who was handed six years, and 17-year-old Shekuh Conteh, who got four years for manslaughter.
CPS Lawyer Calls the Attack “Heart-Breaking and Senseless”
“This is a heart-breaking case where Raheem Hanif was murdered before his father’s eyes in a violent and senseless attack,” said Claire Wiggett of the Crown Prosecution Service.
“The strength of the evidence – witness statements, phone data, forensic proof, and CCTV footage – led to this successful prosecution. These four men will now serve long prison sentences for what they did.
“Arguments happen, but no dispute is worth the cost of a life. Our thoughts go out to Abdul Hanif and all Raheem’s loved ones who have suffered an immeasurable loss.”
