Four Teens Nabbed After Spate of Burglaries in Seaford
Four teenage boys, aged 14 to 17, were arrested after a police chase in Seaford linked them to two burglaries and a car theft.
Police Stop Suspicious Vehicle on Alfriston Road
The drama unfolded early on Thursday 13 June, just after 6am, when officers on patrol spotted a suspicious vehicle. The teens tried to flee but were soon detained. Cops recovered stolen goods including watches and sunglasses believed taken from overnight break-ins.
Inspector Promises Tough Action on Crime Wave
Local Policing Inspector Ed Ripley addressed worried residents: “I fully understand why the community feels upset and angry about this spate of crime, but be assured that police are focused on addressing this and are the right resource to do so.”
He revealed a wider crackdown in Newhaven and surrounding areas over the past nine months, resulting in 57 arrests linked to violent offences, burglary, and vehicle theft. Recently, eight youths connected to an assault in Fort Road are on bail awaiting further investigation.
Community Meeting to Tackle Youth Crime
Inspector Ripley urged locals to help and attend a public meeting at Newhaven Football Club on Friday 14 June at 7pm. “Please come along and share your views around how we can work together to tackle this problem,” he said.
Victims of recent thefts are urged to report via 101 or online, quoting serial 156 of 13/06.
The four suspects remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
