Monster Jailed for 18 Years After Abusing Two Children

Joginder Mahay, 51, has been locked up for 18 years at Maidstone Crown Court after a jury found him guilty of abusing two young girls in Gravesend. The court heard how the vile attacks started when the victims were just seven and nine years old.

Horrific Abuse Spanning Seven Years

Mahay faced a total of 17 charges, including six counts of rape, eight of indecent assault, digital penetration, and sexual activity with a child. The abuse went on from 2000 to 2007 but justice finally caught up with him.

Swift Verdict After Brave Victims Testify

After a harrowing trial, the jury took just five hours to convict Mahay on all counts. He was sentenced to 18 years behind bars, plus an extra five years on an extended sentence. He will also remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and has been slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective Praises Victims’ Courage

“Mahay subjected these girls to years of abuse and thought he could get away with it,” said Detective Constable Fleur Hardie. “Even when reported, he denied everything, putting the victims through more pain. I’d like to commend their bravery in speaking up and helping to bring him to justice.”

“Anyone suffering abuse should come forward. We will investigate fully and ensure victims get the support they need.”
