Gunville Driver Denies Dangerous Crash Charges at Isle of Wight Crown Court
Joshua Johnson, 26, faced Isle of Wight Crown Court today over a serious crash that left two people badly injured. He denies driving dangerously and being under the influence of drugs.
Serious Crash Near Calbourne
Johnson, from Gunville Road, appeared before Judge R Hetherington to answer charges relating to a May 28, 2018 crash on Middle Road near Calbourne. The collision involved his Honda Civic and a Toyota Yaris, seriously injuring two people in their sixties.
Drug Driving Accusation
He also faces a charge of driving with illegal drug levels in his system. Both charges — causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving — are formally denied by Johnson.
Air Ambulance Called to Scene
The crash was so severe the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was dispatched to the Isle of Wight to airlift one victim to a mainland hospital.
Trial Set for June
During the court hearing, Johnson, dressed smartly in a shirt and black trousers, entered not guilty pleas. His five-day trial is scheduled to begin on June 24.
