Woman jailed for mugging elderly partner in broad daylight
Daylight attack shocks local bus station
A 31-year-old woman from Greetland has been locked up for over two years after brutally mugging her elderly partner at a busy bus station. Katie Bland attacked the pensioner, in his 70s, at 1 Bus Station on 6 January, demanding money before kicking him and forcing him to withdraw £40 from a nearby cash machine.
Threatens Good Samaritan who steps in
When a passer-by tried to intervene, Bland didn’t back down. Instead, she threatened to “knock her jaw off,” showing a frightening level of aggression in public.
Victim speaks out on torment and fear
At the hearing, prosecutor Nathan Davis read a harrowing victim statement. The elderly man revealed the emotional wreckage Bland’s abuse has caused.
“I wake up and don’t know how she is going to be. I get abused daily,” he said. “I’ve lost all of my friends because of my relationship. My friends have warned me what she is like and that she asks for money to buy drugs. Her behaviour has worsened in recent weeks. It’s affected me so much I want to give up on life. I never want to come home due to the mess she has left in my life.”
Convicted on multiple charges and sentenced
The court heard Bland’s reign of intimidation and violence left her victim isolated, terrified, and battling poor mental health. She pleaded guilty to robbery, assault, fraud, and blackmail. The judge sentenced her to two years and three months behind bars.
