Margate Thugs Jailed for Brutal £40 Robbery
Two yobos, Alex Bull and Oliver Lee, have been locked up after violently mugging a man in Margate town centre for just £40.
Violent Attack Over Refused Drugs Deal
On the evening of 30 January 2020, the victim, a man in his fifties, was waiting on Oxford Street when Bull, 39, and Lee, 28, approached him, offering Valium tablets for sale.
When he refused, the pair snapped. They demanded money and then followed him, pushing him to the ground and launching a savage punch and kick assault.
Victim Severely Beaten and Robbed
- Bull and Lee stole £20 from his torn shirt pocket.
- They grabbed his phone, with Bull squeezing it so hard the victim feared broken fingers.
- Lee returned the victim’s keys, but Bull only gave back the phone after an extra £20 was handed over.
Caught and Convicted
Both knuckleheads, who have no fixed address, were identified by police the next day and charged with robbery. They pleaded guilty at Canterbury Crown Court on 20 July 2021.
Bull got 3½ years behind bars, while Lee copped a 3-year sentence.
“Regardless of what is stolen, being a victim of robbery is frightening and can leave people very anxious,” said Detective Constable Richard Cordery.
“This pair were aggressive and greedy, targeting someone simply because they could and wanted cash. I hope losing their liberty makes them reconsider their attitudes.”
