Delivery Driver Admits Killing Woman He Obsessed Over

A 27-year-old delivery driver has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after suffocating a woman he was obsessed with. Muhammad Arslan, from Ilford, initially denied murder at the Old Bailey but changed his plea to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility.

Obsessed and Rejected: The Dark Fixation

Arslan targeted 21-year-old Hina Bashir, a fellow villager from Pakistan who moved to the UK in 2021 to study business management. Despite Hina’s clear wish to move on and start a relationship with another man, Arslan’s unhealthy obsession grew more intense.

On 11 July 2022, Hina visited Arslan’s home to collect belongings she’d left behind after moving out. She never left alive.

Chilling Crime: Body Found in Suitcase Near M25

  • The next morning, Arslan was seen dragging a suitcase and dumping it at an industrial estate near the M25.
  • The suitcase contained Hina’s lifeless body, tightly packed inside.
  • The cause of death was asphyxia after a facemask was shoved into her mouth, blocking her airway.
  • Police found matching facemasks at Arslan’s home, along with blood evidence and phone records linking him to the crime.

Evidence Exposes Fixation and Intent

Though Arslan first denied any romantic link to Hina, investigators uncovered dozens of obsessive messages on his phone. He declared his “intense love” for her and was devastated to learn she’d moved on with another man. His phone also contained photos and collages of Hina, plastered with drawn love hearts.

“I did not intend to kill her,” Arslan said, but admitted causing her death.

Prosecutors argue that stuffing a facemask into her mouth clearly shows intent to kill.

The trial continues as the court weighs whether Arslan’s diminished responsibility will stand or if he acted with full murderous intent.
