Ex-MP Khan’s Appeal Shot Down Over 2008 Teen Assault Conviction

Former Conservative MP Imran Khan, who quit Wakefield last April, was handed 18 months behind bars in May for abusing a 15-year-old boy in 2008. Khan denied the charges but lost his appeal on Monday, with Judge Michael Sweeney backing the fairness of the original trial and sealing Khan’s fate.

Gruesome Attack Detailed in Court

During the chilling trial, the jury heard Khan forced the teenager to drink gin and tonic before dragging him upstairs. He pushed the boy onto a bed and demanded he watch pornography before the assault. The victim, now 29, told Southwark Crown Court that Khan touched his feet and legs and came dangerously close to his privates while the boy tried to sleep in a top bunk bed.

Victim’s Long Fight for Justice

The terrified teen ran straight to his parents. A police report was made, but no formal complaint followed back then, stopping the case from moving forward. The horrors came rushing back for the victim when Khan stood for election in December 2019. He told the court the Conservative Party ignored his claims when he warned them before Khan won the Wakefield seat by over 3,000 votes.

“The only regret you feel is towards yourself for having found yourself in the predicament you face as a result of your actions some 14 years ago,” said Mr Justice Jeremy Baker at sentencing.

Judge Slams Khan’s ‘Brutality’

The judge highlighted the “significant degree of brutality” Khan showed by dragging the boy upstairs and throwing him onto a bed in the Staffordshire house where the assault took place in January 2008. Khan’s appeal has now been firmly rejected, locking in his conviction and jail sentence.
