Arconic Settles with 900+ Fire Victims Over Grenfell Cladding

Cladding giant Arconic has agreed a massive settlement with over 900 claimants linked to the Grenfell Tower disaster. The company confirmed its role in a High Court case and the settlement deal with victims affected by the tragic fire.

Settlement Separate from Official Inquiry

This payout is completely separate from the ongoing public inquiry led by Sir Martin Moore-Bick, which is still probing the decisions and failings that led to the tragedy. The inquiry aims to uncover the full truth behind the fire and those responsible.

Justice Process Moves On, But Criminal Charges Still Possible

The compensation will be divided based on each claimant’s situation. Legal firms representing victims stressed the settlement doesn’t rule out future criminal charges. Justice, they say, is far from over.

Arconic, responsible for supplying the flammable cladding material, has also pledged to fund a restorative justice project to help heal the community shattered by the fire.

Settlement Won’t Fully Heal Wounds, Say Tenant Group

The Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation, tasked by the council to run the tower block, warned that no amount of money can erase the trauma and loss. Still, they welcomed the settlement as a step toward justice — while noting not every victim is covered by the deal.

Inquiry Slams Firms for Dodging Blame

In the final inquiry submissions last November, lead counsel Richard Millett slammed companies for “buck-passing,” accusing them of obstructing the panel’s efforts to establish accountability for the deaths.
