Cladding Giant Arconic Shells Out in Grenfell Claims Settlement

Arconic Settles with Over 900 Victims

Arconic, heavyweight cladding manufacturer, has agreed a huge settlement with more than 900 victims linked to the Grenfell Tower disaster. The move follows a High Court case involving multiple companies over the catastrophic fire.

Separate from Ongoing Official Inquiry

This payout is separate from the official inquiry led by Sir Martin Moore-Bick, which is still probing the events and decisions behind the blaze. The inquiry continues to seek answers on how the tragedy unfolded.

Compensation & Restorative Justice

The settlement funds will be distributed based on each claimant’s circumstances. Yet, lawyers emphasise the deal won’t block future criminal charges. Arconic also pledged to fund a restorative justice project to help the devastated community rebuild.

Mixed Reactions & Unfinished Business

The Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation said no amount of money can undo the pain caused but welcomed the settlement as a step towards justice. Not all victims are included in the deal, leaving some still waiting for compensation.

“Firms have been passing the buck, making our job harder,” warned lead counsel Richard Millett in November’s inquiry closing submissions, highlighting ongoing challenges in uncovering the truth.
