Woman Assaulted in Sittingbourne – Suspect Arrested

Just after 1.30am on Sunday, December 11, a woman was attacked in Rectory Road, Sittingbourne by a man she knew.

Police Step In Quickly

Officers rushed to the scene and arrested a suspect. The victim was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

PC Poppy Edwards from the North Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team said:

“We’re appealing to anyone who saw the incident and hasn’t spoken to police yet to get in touch. We’re also asking locals with CCTV or dashcams near Glebe Avenue, between 9pm on December 10 and midnight, to check their footage. We’re searching for a man seen cycling wearing multiple coats.”

Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Mathew Breaker, 46, of Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne, was charged with attempted murder, carrying an offensive weapon, and two counts of possessing bladed objects in public. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 12, and was remanded to Maidstone Crown Court on January 9, 2023.
