Isle of Wight Man Jailed for Raping Girl Under 16
Daryll Pitcher, 46, from Norman Way, Wootton, has been convicted of two counts of rape. The shocking offences, committed when Pitcher was still a child, were revealed during a trial at Isle of Wight Crown Court that began on 13 February.
Multiple Attacks on Underage Victim
A jury heard how Pitcher raped a girl under 16 multiple times between June 1990 and March 1992. The victim has bravely come forward after decades of suffering in silence.
Pitcher Sentenced to Prison and Restricted for Life
On Wednesday 12 April, Pitcher was sentenced to 27 months behind bars. He also received an indefinite restraining order and must register on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
DC Anthony Daniels said: “The victim in this case, now a grown woman, has lived with the memory of this awful abuse for decades. Her courage in speaking out after such a long period of suffering is commendable.”
“We take all allegations of sexual abuse extremely seriously, and want victims to be confident in the knowledge that they will be heard and listened to, and their reports will be believed.”
