Drug Dealer Caught Red-Handed in Islington Playground
Drug dealer Willano Moore, 27, sparked outrage selling narcotics in a children’s playground in Islington—until a quick-thinking cop put a stop to it. Moore, from Hornsey Street, Holloway, now faces prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug offences.
High-Speed Chase Ends in School Playground
On August 31, 2020, police on patrol spotted Moore dealing drugs in Paradise Park, Islington. When confronted, he bolted, triggering a frantic 200-metre foot chase. Moore’s escape attempt ended in the playground of a nearby primary school where officers finally caught him.
Discarded Phone Links Dealer to Crack and Heroin Ring
A search of the area uncovered a burner phone Moore had tossed into nearby bushes. Investigations revealed the device was tied to a drug line peddling crack cocaine and heroin—further damning evidence against Moore.
Guilty Plea Means Jail Time Likely
Moore pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court to supplying crack cocaine and heroin, plus possession of criminal property. Judge HHJ Sharkey warned a prison sentence is expected when Moore’s sentencing hearing takes place on June 28.
“The officer’s bravery in chasing down Moore in a children’s playground was commendable,” said Sergeant Will Smith. “This arrest highlights law enforcement’s commitment to protecting our communities.”
Moore’s reckless drug dealing in a place kids play has rightly been shut down. Thanks to swift police action, a dangerous dealer is off the streets — a win for Islington’s families and schools.
