Drink-Driver Slammed with Two-Year Ban After Christmas DUI

Caught Over the Limit on Christmas Day

James Cavanagh, 27, from Grey Wethers, Maidstone, was nailed for drink-driving in Sevenoaks on Christmas Day 2021. He was stopped by police and blew a whopping 104 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath—three times over the legal limit of 35.

Magistrate Hits Back with Tough Sentence

On 17 January 2022 at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court, Cavanagh pleaded guilty and was slapped with a 24-month driving ban. That’s not all—he also must complete 40 hours of unpaid work within a year, pay a £95 surcharge, plus £85 in court costs.

The harsh punishment sends a clear warning: don’t drink and drive, especially over the festive period.
