Knife Thugs Locked Up After Brutal Mile End Attack
Two Tower Hamlets thugs have been jailed for viciously stabbing and beating a man in a terrifying late-night attack. Adnan Choudhury, 23, was slammed with a hefty 10-and-a-half-year sentence. His accomplice, 22-year-old Tanbir Hussain, was handed seven years and four months behind bars.
Brutal Assault on Mile End Road
The nightmare unfolded at 8pm on Monday, 26 November 2018. Choudhury and Hussain were lurking outside a Mile End Road shop when their 27-year-old victim walked past. Without warning, the pair launched a savage assault.
- Choudhury kicked and punched the man to the ground.
- Hussain joined in, then pulled a knife and stabbed the victim once in the stomach.
- Choudhury battered the man with fists and a glass bottle, smashing it over his head twice before fleeing.
Emergency services rushed to the scene. The victim survived after treatment for stab wounds and head injuries and has since made a full recovery.
Caught on CCTV, Thugs Caught Fast
The violent attack was captured on CCTV, making identification clear. Police arrested Choudhury on New Year’s Day 2019 and Hussain a week later. Hussain also plead guilty to knife possession, earning an extra 16 months concurrent sentence.
“This was a vicious and prolonged attack which left the victim with significant injuries – he is lucky to still be alive,” said Detective Constable Andrew Bray.
“The conviction and sentencing of Hussain and Choudhury means two dangerous individuals have been removed from our streets. I hope the victim feels some justice has been done knowing these two men are behind bars.”
