Two Men Found Guilty of Murdering Beloved Joevester in Sheffield
Jacob Carroll, 27, and Jordan Davies, 26, were convicted of murder today (Friday, July 29) at Sheffield Crown Court.
Joevester Stabbed to Death After Being Chased Across Estate
Joevester, known as Joe to his family and friends, was found dead on Catherine Street on the morning of November 1, 2021. A post-mortem confirmed he died from multiple stab wounds.
Witnesses and CCTV footage revealed that Joe and a friend were ambushed by Carroll and Davies as they crossed the St James estate around 11 p.m. on Halloween night, October 31, 2021.
The pair gave chase on foot before hopping on mountain bikes. Joe tried to escape but was caught and fatally stabbed near the old County Court building.
Family Mourns ‘Bright Light’ Joe
“Joe was a much-loved son, brother, and friend,” said Senior Investigating Officer DCI Emma Knight. “Our thoughts are with them as they struggle to come to terms with their loss.”
Joe’s family described him in court as “the bright light in our lives that has now been extinguished.” They hope today’s verdict brings some comfort.
Sentencing Set for Next Week
Both Carroll and Davies, who have no fixed address, were arrested and remain in custody. Sentencing will take place next week at Sheffield Crown Court.
