Fraudster Targets Kind-Hearted Victims

A suspected scammer has been hit with charges after a string of frauds hit west Kent. Between April and June 2019, well-meaning locals were conned into handing over cash to a woman claiming she was in distress.

‘Bank Cards Stolen’ and Locksmith Lies

The woman allegedly told victims her bank cards were stolen or that she desperately needed a locksmith — prompting them to hand over money.

Arrest and Charges

On Sunday 9 June, 54-year-old Kathleen Perry from Acorn Place, maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone, was arrested. She now faces two counts of fraud by false representation linked to scams in the Maidstone area. Perry also faces a heroin possession charge.

She has been bailed and is set to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 12 July.
