Huge Blaze Erupts at Queensborough Creek Industrial Estate

Kent Fire and Rescue are battling a massive fire at the Klondyke Industrial Estate near Queensborough Creek. The inferno broke out on a two-ton disused wooden boat pontoon, sparking multiple explosions that terrified local residents.

Explosions Heard, Roads Shut

People living nearby reported loud blasts as the fire raged. Authorities swiftly closed roads around the area and warned locals to keep all windows and doors firmly shut due to thick smoke blanketing the neighbourhood.

Firefighters Fight to Contain Blaze

A Kent Fire spokesman said:

“Fire crews were called to reports of smoke and flames issuing from around two tonnes of disused wooden boat pontoon platforms at a boat yard in Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey. Firefighters worked with the site owner and provided boundary cooling to prevent the fire spreading, while allowing it to burn out under control. This helped to prevent further environmental damage to the surrounding area, including Queenborough Creek, due to other materials such as polystyrene being involved in the fire. There are no reports of any injuries and a report suggesting the possibility of malicious ignition has been passed to Kent Police. The site was left in the care of its owner.”

Arson Probe Underway

Kent Fire and Rescue have joined forces with Kent Police in a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze. Early signs point to arson as the likely cause. The community remains on alert as investigators continue their inquiries.
