Predator Kevin Scott Jailed for Sickening Sex Crimes Spanning Decades
Kevin Scott, 54, has been found guilty of 10 horrific offences. His crimes include violent assaults, rape, indecent communication, sexual activity with an older child he met online, abduction, and domestic abuse.
Decades of Abuse Across Scotland
Scott’s vile attacks took place between 1985 and 2021 in several Scottish regions, including West Lothian, Clackmannanshire, and Dumfries and Galloway.
During his trial at Edinburgh’s High Court, Scott shamelessly denied his crimes. He even claimed his relationship with one of the child victims was “consensual” and had the audacity to blame her for “seducing” him. Judge Lady Haldane branded his offences “particularly disturbing.”
Life Behind Bars and Indefinite Sex Offender Status
Scott was handed an Order for Lifelong Restriction. He must serve at least six and a half years in prison before parole is even considered. On top of that, he’s been slapped with an indefinite place on the sex offenders’ register.
A grim report from Criminal Justice Social Services revealed Scott’s dangerous profile. It highlighted psychopathic traits linked to a traumatic childhood and anxiety. He shows no understanding of his behaviour or the pain he caused his victims.
Police Praise Victims, Urge Others to Speak Out
“We thank the victims for their courage in coming forward,” said Detective Sergeant Lynn Morrison of Police Scotland. “If you have suffered sexual abuse at any time, report it. We will investigate fully and ensure offenders face justice.”
This shocking case is a stark reminder: there’s no expiry date on reporting sexual abuse. Police vow to support victims and crack down on offenders no matter how long ago the crimes were committed.
