A man blamed the family dog for a toddler’s fatal injuries – but a jury wasn’t buying it. After just over 10 hours of deliberation, Bevan was found guilty of murder.
Brutal Assault on Little Lola
The court heard Bevan launched a “brutal” attack on two-year-old Lola while he was alone with her. The savage assault caused a catastrophic head injury that led to her death in hospital. He had lived with the family for four months and had a volatile temper, fueled by drugs like Xanax, cannabis, and amphetamines.
Horrific Injuries and Chilling Evidence
Lola’s body showed 101 cuts and bruises, with head trauma akin to a high-speed car crash. Horrifyingly, Bevan Googled “My two-year-old child has just taken a bang to the head and gone all limp and snoring. What’s wrong?” but waited an hour before calling an ambulance.
Prosecutors revealed Bevan tried to cover his tracks with lies, snapping photos of Lola’s injuries and filming a disturbing video. In the footage, he can be seen lifting the unconscious toddler and dropping her to the floor before putting her back on the sofa where she snored ominously.
Mother’s Silence Under Scrutiny
Although Lola’s mother, James, claimed her daughter was already asleep when the injuries happened, prosecutors argue she should have known the threat Bevan posed. Lola had suffered repeated injuries in previous months, which were suspiciously brushed off with flimsy excuses.
Sentencing Date Set
Bevan and James face sentencing on Tuesday, 25 April. The case has shocked the community and highlights the tragic consequences of unchecked violence.
