Josh Clift, 31, from Longhedge, has been sentenced to two years in prison at Salisbury Crown Court for stalking, breaching a restraining order, and sharing an intimate video without consent. The sentencing on June 4 follows repeated harassment of his victim, including thousands of abusive messages and violations of court orders designed to protect her.
Relentless Harassment Exposed
Clift persistently contacted his victim despite a non-molestation order and subsequent restraining order. In February alone, he sent multiple threatening and abusive messages daily, even after being blocked on several platforms. His behaviour caused significant distress and anxiety.
Disturbing Abuse Revealed
Among the abuses, Clift shared a video depicting the victim in an intimate state, escalating the victim’s trauma. He also issued threats, including one involving a family member’s gravestone, intensifying the fear experienced by the victim.
Police Praise Victims Courage
Local Crime Investigator Cantillon from the Volume Crime Team praised the victim for her bravery in reporting Clift’s offences, which enabled the authorities to take action. He emphasised that such stalking behaviour is taken seriously and will lead to custodial sentences.
Extended Protection Measures
Alongside his prison term, Clift’s restraining order has been extended by ten years, legally barring any contact with the victim and reinforcing her protection against further harassment.
