Man Charged with Lewisham Pub Murder Appears at Old Bailey
A 42-year-old man faces murder charges over the death of a 63-year-old outside a Wetherspoons in Lewisham. Paul Tallant appeared via videolink from HMP Belmarsh at the Old Bailey today.
Victim Identified as Charlie Prodromou
Charlie Prodromou was found with life-threatening injuries after an assault on Lewisham High Street on March 1.
- Emergency services rushed to the scene at 8:40 PM
- Prodromou was in critical condition and taken to hospital
- He sadly died shortly afterwards
Court Case Set for October
Tallant, from Eltham, is charged with murder. At a brief hearing, prosecutor Gemma White confirmed a provisional trial date for October. The trial could last between five and seven days. Tallant is expected to enter a plea in May.
Met Police Confirm Arrest
“A man has appeared in court charged with murder following a fatal assault in Lewisham,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
“Police were called at 20:39 on March 1 after reports of an assault on Lewisham High Street. Officers, with paramedics, found a 63-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.”
“He was taken to hospital where he later died. His family have been informed. The victim is Charlie Prodromou.”
“It is believed the assault followed a disturbance at The Watch House pub.”
“A 42-year-old was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and has been charged.”
