Man nabbed for secretly snapping kids in Hove

Quick action after creepy photo attempt

Police swooped in after reports of a man trying to photograph children covertly in Hove. The incident took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 2, near Belfast Street and Portland Road. Locals raised the alarm after spotting a man allegedly following kids and snapping pics without their knowledge.

Officers acted fast, tracked down a suspect nearby, and arrested 21-year-old Kayode Sandham from Wilfred Road, Hove, right at the scene.

Charged with invasion of privacy and public decency

The day after his arrest, Sandham faced charges for taking photographs under clothing without consent and outraging public decency. He appeared at brighton/" title="Brighton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 4. Bail was granted but with strict conditions. Sandham is set to appear at Lewes Crown Court for a hearing on May 2.

Police vow to keep kids safe

“This was a concerning report involving children, and officers acted quickly to identify and arrest a suspect,” said Detective Sergeant Tom Duffy of the Response Investigations Team. “We understand the distress this incident may have caused locally. We continue to maintain visible patrols in the area to offer reassurance.”
