A Portsmouth man has been charged with attempted murder following a brutal hammer attack.

Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge

James Hemming, from Cross Street, Portsmouth, is accused of attempted murder. He’s set to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning.

Teenager Suffered Life-Changing Injuries

The charge comes after a horrific assault on April 11, 2016. A 17-year-old was savagely attacked with a hammer at a property on Shearer Road, leaving him with life-changing injuries.

Man Remanded in Custody

Hemming has been remanded in custody pending court proceedings. Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
