Mitcham Man Busted Over String of Shocking Sexual Assaults in South-East London
Eddwin Cortes-Pinerez, 39, from Mitcham Lane, SW16, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual touching. The Metropolitan Police moved in after a spate of attacks rattled south-east London this July.
Victims Targeted While Out on the Streets
The suspect allegedly used a bicycle to approach women in Greenwich, groping them over their clothes at various spots including Aldeburgh Street, Vanbrugh Hill, and Halstow Road. Eight incidents were reported between July 3 and July 24 before police caught Cortes-Pinerez on July 25.
Police Call for More Victims to Speak Out
“The whole of the Met is committed to doing much more to identify and tackle the most dangerous and prolific offenders,” said Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Handscombe. He urged anyone affected to come forward, promising full support and attention.
Court Date Set as Investigation Continues
Cortes-Pinerez is due in Bromley Magistrates’ Court on July 29 facing charges under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. The Met is still investigating and appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call 101 quoting reference CAD 4297/28JUL24.
