Detectives have finally charged a man in connection with a brutal 1999 Wembley stabbing. Sokol Drenova, 40, currently homeless, was charged late on Thursday, 31 May, for the murder of Bledar Mone.

Bledar was discovered stabbed to death at his home on Fernbank Avenue on 22 June 1999. The case has haunted police for over two decades.

Drenova is set to appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 1 June. The investigation shows that cold cases can still crack under pressure.
