Camden Shock: Man Found Guilty of Brutal Murder of Mother of Four

A Camden community is reeling after a man was convicted of the savage murder of his partner, Nicole Hurley. The 37-year-old mother of four was killed in a frenzied attack by her controlling partner in their home.

Jason Bell Convicted at Old Bailey

Jason Bell, 42, from Broxwood Way, NW8, faced the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 8 August. He was found guilty of murdering Nicole Hurley, plus charges of false imprisonment and dangerous driving. Sentencing is set for Thursday, 12 October at the same court.

Gruesome Details Emerge From Police Investigation

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood, who led the inquiry, revealed chilling details: “This was a frenzied, brutal attack on a defenceless woman while her four children were in the home, two witnessing the murder. Nicole suffered serious injuries. She tried to shield herself, shown by wounds on her forearms. At least two knives were used.”

The attack happened just before 1am on 10 October 2021. Police responded to an assault call at Broxwood Way. Neighbours gave first aid to Nicole and comforted the traumatised children. Despite emergency efforts, Nicole died at the scene.

Attempt to Cover Up and Shocking Escape

  • Bell tried to stop the children from calling help by packing all household phones in a bag.
  • The bag, thrown away to avoid suspicion, was found by passers-by who alerted police.
  • A blood-stained knife was discovered inside, exposing Bell’s violent spree.

After the murder, Bell fled to a male friend’s house, confessed, and accused him of having an affair with Nicole. He detained the friend overnight and forced him to leave by car the next day at knifepoint. The terrified friend escaped from the moving vehicle and received hospital treatment for minor injuries.

Bell was arrested that evening at 7:13pm and hit with multiple charges including murder, false imprisonment, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified with no insurance.

Police Condemn Bell’s Actions and Defence Claims

“Nicole had been trying to escape the isolating control of Bell,” said DCI Eastwood. “Bell, paranoid about Nicole’s loyalty, lost control and murdered her. His defence shamelessly blames Nicole for his horrific crimes. It’s right he’s been convicted of her murder.”
