Hit-and-run driver caught after cyclist left with serious injuries

58-year-old banned for a year

Abbas John, 58, from Maidenhead Road, Windsor, has been disqualified from driving for 12 months. John also faces 180 hours of community service after crashing into a cyclist and fleeing the scene.

Careless driving and hit-and-run charges

John pleaded guilty to careless driving, failing to stop at the scene, and failing to report the collision. The incident happened on January 14 in Jays Close, Basingstoke.

Cyclist suffers serious injuries

The victim, a 52-year-old woman from Basingstoke, suffered a fractured skull and multiple fractures to her ankle in the crash. John was also fined £710 and ordered to pay £85 in costs.
