Serious Crash in Christchurch: One Arrested, Man Critically Injured
Police are urgently hunting for witnesses after a nasty collision near Christchurch in the early hours of Saturday, 15 October 2016. The smash happened at 2.36am on the B3059 close to Somerford roundabout.
Two Cars, Eight People Involved
The crash involved a yellow Fiat Punto and a blue Citroen Saxo, each carrying four passengers. The front-seat passenger of the Punto, a 20-year-old from New Milton, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Southampton Hospital. Thankfully, his condition has since stabilised. Four others were also taken to hospital with less serious injuries.
Man Arrested Over Suspicious Driving
A 22-year-old man, also from New Milton, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has been bailed until late October 2016 as police continue their investigation.
Police Make Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
Police Sergeant Rhiannon Stroud said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact police. I also want to hear from anyone who saw the driving behaviour of either vehicle before the collision.”
