Man who stabbed cop 23 times with scissors found guilty of attempted murder
Brutal Scissor Attack in Maidstone
Robert Jenner has been convicted of attempting to murder PC Sean Quinn after a savage attack in Maidstone last June. Jenner stabbed PC Quinn 23 times in a ferocious assault, leaving the officer with a horrific gaping wound on his forehead, exposing his skull.
The violent assault unfolded after officers responded to reports of Jenner running naked in a local park, exposing himself to women. The 49-year-old self-proclaimed naturist has a long record, including 11 previous convictions for exposure.
Chaos at Jenner’s Flat
On 15 June 2023, cops tried to enter Jenner’s flat only to be met with barricades. Jenner blocked the door with a sofa and refused entry. When officers forced their way inside and tried to use pepper spray, Jenner launched his savage attack, stabbing PC Quinn repeatedly in the head, face, and neck.
“I heard a cry of anguish as PC Quinn was attacked,” said PC Angela Bates. “I struck Jenner multiple times on the back of the head until he dropped the scissors.”
Despite his life-threatening injuries, PC Quinn survived, but he has yet to return to duty. Kent Police confirmed they are supporting him through recovery and hopeful for his comeback.
Trial Drama and Guilty Verdict
Jenner, who denied attempted murder and wounding with intent, refused to attend his trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Prosecutors argued the brutal nature of the attack showed clear intent to kill. The defence claimed Jenner thought police were unlawfully entering his home and acted in self-defence.
PC Quinn’s family broke down in tears when the jury found Jenner guilty. The sentencing hearing is set to take place in the coming weeks, where his violent history will no doubt weigh heavily.
Community and Police Rally Behind PC Quinn
The attack sparked outrage across Maidstone and beyond. Kent Police praised PC Quinn’s bravery and his colleagues’ swift actions.
“Our officers put their lives on the line daily. PC Quinn’s courage under fire exemplifies the commitment of our force,” said a police spokesperson.
The local community has rallied around PC Quinn, sending well wishes and support as he continues his long road to recovery.
