Man Guilty of Murdering 21-Year-Old Courtney Angus in Dewsbury
A man has been convicted for the savage killing of 21-year-old Courtney Angus from Dewsbury.
Michael Doherty Pleads Guilty at Leeds Crown Court
Michael Doherty, also known as Michael Moore, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Monday, 26 January. He pleaded guilty to murdering young Courtney Angus.
Courtney Found Dead After Chilling Police Confession
Courtney’s lifeless body was found at Doherty’s home in Batley on 26 July last year. She had been brutally assaulted and strangled.
Doherty shocked police by calling to confess he’d killed three people. The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team launched an intense investigation to find the other victims.
But after exhaustive searches, officers confirmed Doherty’s claims were false – Courtney was the only victim.
Doherty Also Admits Armed Threats and Theft Charges
The 38-year-old from Norfolk Street also admitted three counts of threatening people with a blade linked to his arrests, along with theft offences.
Doherty remains behind bars and awaits sentencing at a future hearing.
