Crewe Man Jailed for 11 Years for Runcorn Rape and Assault
Scott Lindsay, 55, of Nantwich Road, Crewe, has been locked up for 11 years after a jury found him guilty of raping and assaulting a woman at her home in Runcorn.
Brutal Attack After Drug Demand Refused
The horrific ordeal took place on Saturday, April 8, 2023, when Lindsay turned up at the victim’s Runcorn house demanding money for drugs. After she refused, he violently attacked her. The following day, he threatened her life from his vehicle, terrifying the victim further.
Knife Threats and Hair-Pulling Horror
Court heard Lindsay didn’t stop at assault – he also brandished a knife, pulled the woman’s hair, and caused a chest injury. The victim later revealed a previous forced rape and assault by Lindsay, adding to the severity of his crimes.
Cheshire Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
Detective Sergeant Whitfield from Runcorn CID praised the victim for her courage in going to the police. He said, “Scott Lindsay frequently assaulted and forcibly raped the victim, despite her repeated objections and pleas for him to stop. His actions have left her emotionally scarred.”
Whitfield stressed that Cheshire Police treat sexual offences with the utmost seriousness and provide specialised support for victims to help them through the ordeal.
Lindsay had initially pleaded not guilty but was convicted by a jury at liverpool/" title="Liverpool" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Liverpool Crown Court last Friday, November 10.
