Man Jailed After Amesbury Chisel Attack

John Worrall, 35, with no fixed address, has been locked up for 28 months following a savage stabbing in Amesbury last year. The brutal attack left the victim seriously injured in his own home.

Gruesome Assault Inside Victim’s Flat

The chilling incident unfolded on January 25, 2024, at around 6:30pm. The victim opened his door at Sandell Place when Worrall struck him with a chisel. The victim suffered a nasty 4cm slash to his arm.

After pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and carrying an offensive weapon, Worrall was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on April 1. He faces 28 months behind bars, a restraining order until 2030, and a £228 fine.

Victim Speaks Out on Lingering Trauma

“It is now over a year on from the attack, but I still feel emotionally traumatised and have lasting physical damage to my arm.

The scar around my left wrist and forearm is permanent. Despite five physio sessions, my tendon damage means I can’t fully move my wrist. Making a fist is a struggle and my fingers stiffen and lock often. I feel daily pain in my wrist and forearm.”

Police Condemn Attack, Praise Witnesses

Acting Detective Inspector David Hambly slammed the violent attack, calling it “disgusting.” He praised the victim and witnesses for their courage in helping police bring Worrall to justice.

“This kind of violence has no place in our communities. We will prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law.”

Community Urged to Report Crime

Wiltshire Police remind anyone affected by crime to report it immediately. In emergencies, dial 999. For non-urgent matters, call 101 or report online. You can also give anonymous tips via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

The local community has welcomed the sentencing, relieved that justice has been served for a terrifying attack that has left a lasting impact.
